Kawaii Til We Die

Hey everyone!

I spent my Friday the 13th at Kawaii Til We Die dancing with my cover group FLA48!

I only took three pictures from the evening, but my friend Matthew took a lot and he said it was okay to use his pictures for this blog post so all pictures here are courtesy of him :D

2015: YEAR OF THE SELFIE STICK.
Kawaii Til We Die is a free 18+ event for fans of anime, video games, cosplay, kawaii stuff, and things of that sort.  I found out about this event during Megacon 2014 actually. I saw a flyer and I thought "OMG THIS IS WHERE I BELONG." Since then Kawaii Til We Die has been hosted several times before, but this was the first night I attended.

The event started off with some J-pop music videos of Perfume, Kyary, and Capsule, while some people casually danced around. There was a bar LOL. At 9:00 O_Super performed. He rapped about things from anime and video games and it was pretty cool, but I couldn't really pay attention to his performance because I WAS SO NERVOUS.

This was my first time my cover group and I performed under our name FLA48 so...of course things weren't perfect. We made our mistakes, but we learned a lot. I just hope people watching us didn't get bored or thought we were stupid. My group wasn't as prepared as they could have been, but I'm SOOO happy and thankful that they still danced with me and tried to put on a good performance.

We practiced before the show, but it was our first time practicing with each other in person LOL. When we got to the venue, we practiced some more before we got on.

Just like at Metrocon 2014 when I had my solo dance stage in the dealer's room, I felt really awkward with introducing the group and talking a bit before we performed on Friday. This time we had a microphone so people could actually hear us but...I still felt so nervous with talking. I even forgot to have us each introduce our name x____x At the end, I felt obligated to say something into the microphone so I said "thank you!" and then we bowed. I felt so stupid while saying that and so stupid afterwards LOL.

I'm really hard on myself. They say you are your worst critic and that couldn't be any more true with me. I feel like it's better to be harder on myself than to hear it from someone else. Plus I don't ever want to be too too confident. You know those people who audition for American Idol and sound terrible, but they will tell the judges "well my grandma said I'm the best singer in the world!!"...I really don't want to be that person.

Some audience members started chanting our group name when we were done O_O that was so kind of them xD

There were some fans set up behind us to keep everyone on the dance floor cooled off. Taylor is unfortunately not turning super saiyan
Of course, no one's perfect, especially not the first time they do something!

I'm also so thankful that we were given the opportunity to even be at this thing! We only had like two videos uploaded on our youtube channel, but the creator of the event thought it would be cool to have us dance since he knew one of the members in my group. He trusted us before he even knew much about us xD that's a big risk to take LOL. There was also a good amount of people there watching, but it wasn't a HUGE event, so it wasn't too intimidating for a first show.

After we danced, it was like 11 P.M. so we were tired. I wish I could have stayed until the end of the event, even if I just sat down the entire time haha, I loved the music being played and there were some awesomely dressed people! At every Kawaii Til We Die event there are Sprites who are people who are...hmm... kind of like mascots? They dress up in colorful pastel J-fashion inspired outfits and dance around to encourage people to dance and be friendly to others. There was also this little table where they did small crafts with attendees and gave out stickers and candy.

Here's Matthew with our friend Caris who's one of the Sprites :D she looks freakin cool. A lot of them has a purple/pink/green pastel theme with their outfits.
I don't know what compelled me to hold that water bottle up that high as if I'm advertising it LOL.

There were times when I wanted to just drop this cover group project idea because I felt like it was going nowhere, but once again, I feel inspired to move forward! A met a few people who are interested in joining the group too! As of now we have 5 members (two other members couldn't make it!), but we are planning on growing and growing.
